UK Tech Job Market: November 2026
There are 3,990 open UK tech roles on salaryshown.com, and 2,465 (62%) show a salary. The median advertised salary across those 2,465 ads is £57.5k. The figures are from our live data, taken on 2 November 2026 (the data file is dated 1 November).
This is the first monthly edition, so there is no previous month to compare against. Where we published a figure on 22 October 2026 we show it next to today's. The same tables will be repeated each month so they can be compared.
The headline numbers
An ad "shows a salary" only if it gives a figure or range. Recruitment agency ads are listed only when they state pay, so agencies are always 100%. That makes the overall share higher than the share for employers.
| Open roles | Showing a salary | Share | Median advertised salary | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Startups we track | 1,182 | 223 | 18.9% | £110k |
| Direct employers | 761 | 195 | 25.6% | £42.5k |
| Agencies (salaried only) | 2,047 | 2,047 | 100% | £57.5k |
| All | 3,990 | 2,465 | 61.8% | £57.5k |
Medians use the midpoint of each ad's low and high figure. Startup, direct and agency ads are different mixes of roles and locations, so the medians are not like-for-like. See which employers show the salary for the source split.
Is pay being shown more often?
On 22 October, 17% of startup ads showed a salary and 29% of direct-employer ads did, according to our earlier post. Today the startup share is 18.9% and the direct share is 25.6%. Counting startups and direct employers together, 418 of 1,943 ads (21.5%) show a salary, against 22% (461 of 2,062) on 22 October, as reported in our pay transparency post.
Over ten days that is a small movement and we do not read a trend into it. Total open roles are down from 4,496 on 22 October to 3,990.
Advertised salary by role family
| Role family | Open roles | Showing a salary | Median advertised salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Software engineering | 1,448 | 927 | £57.5k |
| Infrastructure | 873 | 688 | £49.6k |
| Analytics | 307 | 212 | £57.5k |
| Security | 269 | 186 | £65k |
| ML engineering | 194 | 64 | £95k |
| Data engineering | 186 | 97 | £72.5k |
| Data science | 173 | 55 | £80k |
| Product | 149 | 59 | £67.5k |
| Consulting | 131 | 95 | £67.5k |
| AI product | 100 | 25 | £115k |
| Design | 82 | 37 | £61k |
| AI research | 73 | 19 | £95k |
AI product, AI research, design and data science have fewer than 60 salaried ads each, so a handful of ads can move those medians. Five ads are classed as "other" and are left out. For role-level detail and typical ranges, use the salary guides, for example software engineer.
London and the rest of the UK
| Location | Open roles | Showing a salary | Median advertised salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| London | 1,750 | 627 | £85k |
| Elsewhere in the UK | 2,240 | 1,838 | £52.5k |
"London" is the site's own location label. The two groups also differ in employer mix, so the £32.5k gap is a gap between advertised salaries, not a like-for-like pay difference.
Work pattern
| Work pattern | Open roles | Showing a salary | Median advertised salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hybrid | 1,403 | 870 | £67.5k |
| Remote | 260 | 171 | £67k |
| On-site | 437 | 193 | £55k |
| Not stated | 1,890 | 1,231 | £51.7k |
Almost half of all ads (1,890) do not state a work pattern, so these medians describe only the ads that do.
Advertised salary by seniority
| Level | Open roles | Showing a salary | Median advertised salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Junior | 151 | 104 | £33.5k |
| Mid | 1,988 | 1,374 | £50k |
| Senior | 855 | 388 | £70k |
| Lead | 826 | 508 | £70k |
| Executive | 148 | 79 | £110k |
Intern roles (22 open, 12 with a salary) are left out because the sample is small. Senior and lead ads have the same median here.
