The UK Tech Employers Not Showing a Salary Right Now
28 UK employers each have 10 or more open tech roles on salaryshown.com and not one of those ads shows a salary. Between them that is 532 roles with no figure. The counts are from live ads on 26 October 2026.
This post names them because the list is checkable and useful if you are applying. It makes no claim about why any employer leaves pay out. An ad counts as showing a salary only if it gives a figure or range.
The overall picture
We track 4,014 open roles. Recruitment agency ads are kept only when they state a salary, so they are left out here. That leaves 1,955 employer ads, of which 404 show pay (20.7%).
One name needs separating. eFinancialCareers, a job listing site name that appears as the company on 371 Reed ads, has none with a salary. We exclude it from the tables below so one entry does not dominate. Without it, there are 1,584 employer ads and 404 with pay (25.5%), across 351 employers. Of those employers, 197 have no priced ad at all.

Thirteen more employers with 10 to 13 roles each also show none, among them Thought Machine, Octopus Energy, Kpler, Prolific, Motorway, Dojo and Apollo Research. Every employer in the full list is a startup from the job boards we read directly. Several of these have a large share of engineering roles: of Wayve's 51 ads, 18 are software engineering and 15 are ML engineering.
Employers with 10+ roles that do show pay
Of the 42 employers with 10 or more open roles, the other 14 show at least one salary. These are the ones with the most priced ads. We leave out ITOL Recruit (20 of 20 priced): Reed lists it as an employer, but the name suggests a recruiter.
| Employer | Open roles | Roles with a salary |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | 32 | 31 |
| Monzo | 30 | 26 |
| Kaluza | 21 | 17 |

| Riverlane | 14 | 14 |
| Flo Health | 12 | 10 |
At the other end of the mixed group, Graphcore shows a salary on 6 of 69 ads and OpenAI on 3 of 25.
How to use this if you are applying
- If the employer is on the first list, compare the role against the advertised range for the same title on the relevant salary guide, then ask for the band in the first call.
- Startups with pay shown tend to advertise above the all-UK median, so a missing figure does not tell you the pay is low or high. See which UK tech employers show the salary for the split by source.
- For the wider trend, UK pay transparency in job adverts breaks the share down by location, seniority and role.
- Current openings with a stated salary are on the jobs page, and medians by role are on the market data page.
Limits of these figures
- We read about 150 startup job boards and search Reed. Employers outside that are not counted, and an employer can show pay on a site we do not read.
- Counts change daily as roles open and close.
- An employer with 10 roles is a small sample of its hiring. We report a count, not a policy.
